Leads versus booked appointments

Lead volume is the easiest number to move and the least useful to have. Booked appointments are harder to produce, harder to inflate, and they track what actually happens in the bank account.

Why lead counts drift from reality

Every step between an enquiry and a visit removes people: replies that never land, times that do not suit, quotes that arrive late. A report that stops at lead count describes the top of that staircase and says nothing about the bottom.

Two campaigns can deliver the same number of leads and a very different number of appointments. Judged on leads they look identical, and the wrong one gets the budget.

The chain worth reporting

Enquiries, replies within one minute, booked appointments, kept appointments, and revenue where you can attribute it. Five numbers, one line each, in the same order every week.

Each step should carry a source. Without that, an improvement is visible but not explainable, and the next decision is a guess.

What this changes in practice

Once the report ends at kept appointments, the arguments change. Nobody defends a campaign for producing volume, and the conversation moves to reply speed, to the booking page and to the calendar.

It also changes what you buy. Audiences that produce fewer but more serious enquiries start to win, which is usually where high ticket businesses make their money.

Owning the data

The chain only works when the numbers are yours: your ad accounts, your call records, your contacts, your calendar. Reporting that lives inside an agency account disappears the day the relationship ends.

Ask for admin access to every account created in your name. A partner who works this way hands it over without a conversation.
